The Fog Nozzle, with a 6.8% ABV and 35 IBU, is our New England style IPA fermented with an expressive yeast and hopped to the gills with Mosaic, Ekuanot, Simcoe, and Azacca hops. Notes of oatmeal with apricot preserves, pineapple, mango orange juice, and a hint of coniferous forest, make this beer a real treat to quaff.

This was another beer that I picked up somewhere in California last year, although I can't remember where. Never had anything from South Lake before and with a name and look like this, why not see if it measured up to similar brews from these parts? Indeed, this was a bit of a hybrid between east and west coast offerings as the result was a full IPA that wasn't a haze bomb and had just a bit of forest and burn to measure up to counterparts.
Golden and hazy, this had a bit of fine sediment floating in it although it wasn't easy to see. Plenty of head topped it off as it left behind a thin collar and a few thick and unorganized hints of rings down the side of my pint glass. Apricot, stone fruit, oatmeal, and dank forest were in the muted nose as the taste was much more pronounced. Turbid sweetness, sticky hops, and plenty of bite to chew on rounded this out as it had a nice feel, that wasn't quite what I was expecting. Star and jack fruit came in at the end as this was quite nuanced, and slow sipper that *almost* called for a chaser of water at the end.
More forest and some pine could have elevated this, but as it was, this was a fun beer that felt a bit stronger than it's listed 6.8% ABV. Dated 6/12 of last year with "

On tap at South Lake Brewing
A: Pours hazy golden orange amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a thin layer and laces nicely.
S: Plenty of almost over ripe tropical and stone fruit, ripe citrus, pine, a bit floral, bready malt, and caramel sweetness.
T: Tropical and stone fruit, peach, apricot, guava, mango, melon, pineapple, and passion fruit, underlying citrus, orange marmalade and lemon lime, a bit floral, a touch of resinous pine, bready slightly biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.
M: A touch on the fuller side of medium body, moderate carbonation.
O: Finally got a chance to pop in and try this one. I think if they dialed back the sweetness just a touch it would take it to the next level. As it stands, for a hazy that I know has been around since the style started emerging it makes a solid flagship.
