Pours seal brown with a meager cap of mocha foam. Complex aroma smells of blackberries, peat, almonds, and coffee cake, with hints of coffee and alcohol.

Taste features currants, black cherries, molasses, and almonds up front, with coffee and roasted malt more on the back end. Modest hopping leans toward earthy and noble, but plays more of a supporting role here. Warming alcohol is discernible, but largely well-concealed. Medium body and low carbonation makes for a smooth, hefty mouthfeel.

Overall, this is a robust, flavorful porter that offers up a unique and complex flavor profile. The almond integrates well with the fruity base malt without ever becoming cloying, and I really dig the black currant backbone--a nifty offering.
