Copenhagen 23/6 2019. 75 cl bottle from Vin de Table, Frederikssundsvej, Kbh NV. Light green label with Drawing of a rugged Farm worker pouring beer from a barrel (looks kind of impractical).
Pours hazy golden yellow with a small white head. Bubbly. Settles as thin patchy layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing.
Aroma is intense, spicy and herbal and with an underlying sweetness. Some Vinous quality meets s bonanza of herbs. Anise, fennel, Melissa. Notes of tart berries and citrus.
Strong carbonation. Thin, watery and fizzy texture.
Flavor is medium sweet followed by a medium strong, tart sourness. Aftertaste is sour without going to extremes. Lingers for a bit. Semi-dry finish.
Voiron's concept with the Bière Vivante seems to be to make beers inspired by French liquors and wines. I would say that true appreciation of this beer is dependent on your feelings for French liquors and Herbs.
