Appearance - Creamy one finger off-white head with great retention. Moderate-dark amber-red hazy body.

Smell - Lime peel with coffee and noticable hop.

Taste - Front end is great. I want to grade taste 4.5, but the bitter lime peel aftertaste that sticks with you. That's this beers biggest downfall. I really can't get over it, so it lost half a point on that.

Mouthfeel - This is what an IPA's mouthfeel should be like. Definitely not water, has some body to it. Not thick though, don't worry.

Drinkability - Too strong to be a session beer. Delicious but overpowering, even for an IPA. Makes a great tasting beer though.

Had at the Jaxsons Airway location.

A: Served a dark copper color with a good head that slowly faded to good lacing.

S: Aroma is primarily a fresh citrus aroma.

T: Initially has a distinct citrus bite with a trace of malt. Very dry finish.

Medium body, crisp and quite refreshing. The 7.5%ABV is very well hidden.

D: Quite drinkable, went well the the meal.

This arrived with a thick, medium-tan head with good retention. One sniff and I knew that I had made the right choice. The nose was redolent with Cascade hops. The color was a deep amber with a slight cloudiness. The mouthfeel was medium with a battle of hops and malt taking place on my tongue. The finish, however, was N.B.H. (Nothin' But Hops). It was a delicious beer that made our trip wholly worthwhile.

Thanks to Dennis for bringing the growler oh so many miles up for me.

Poured from the growler into a Goulden Draak glass.

Appearance- Initally pours flat, force carbonated by shaking up the growler (it really works). Mild frothy head, orange colour.

Smell- mild, slight hop character, a strange spicy smell lingers in the glass. It smells a little like a dortmunder.

Taste- As I said before, the growler was flat to begin with. There were no leaks or problems with the growler, and this hasn't really been aged. I don't know what the problem was there. Decent malt and subdued hops. Hop aftertaste lingers on the toungue. I can't seem to pinpoint what hop it is exactly.

Mouthfeel- Smooth, light and refreshing. Good for a summer day. I can see why this is popular in Texas.

Drinkability- Very. I could drink this for quite a while and will. Would I order it again? If I was down south and it was available. Other than that, I would go for something else.

While having dinner at Jaxon’s I ordered their Andale IPA to accompany a hot Tex Mex dish that I thought nothing could cut through, but I was wrong. Listed on the restaurant’s blackboard as a NW IPA, there is no missing the overpowering citrus hop character. It has a great smell that may come from either dry hopping or an insane amount of hops. My guess, from the taste, is that it was the latter.

The aroma is reminiscent of sweet orange marmalade with hints of alcohol. In the restaurant lighting the beer had an orange caramel color. It was served cold and with little or no head, yet, what was there left a distinctive white lacing to the bottom of my glass.

It has a full bodied mouthfeel with moderately low carbonation that gives it an initial thickness that is then obliterated by hop bitterness on the finish. Had my taste buds not been totally wrecked by the excellently spicy food, I don't think I could have finished this beer. The flavor was just so extremely dominated by citrusy hops that I would have bet it had very limited mass appeal. To my surprise, the bartender assured me it was one of their best selling beers, and the fellow Beer Advocate sitting a few barstools away had nothing but high accolades for this total hop bomb. I guess it's just a matter of personal taste. It reminded me a little of the Stone 10th Anniversary IPA, but much more one dimensional and certainly less drinkable.

I was warned by the waitress about the hoppiness of this one, but I figured it'd accompany the tex-mex style nachos very well. I was right. It was served a dark copper with a solid finger of frothy white head and decent retention.

The smell was as is expected for an IPA. Citric grapefruit and a little grassy hops with a very faint nose of burnt and roasted malts.

First sip wasn't nearly the hopbomb I was expecting after hearing all the warnings and reading the reviews on here. I guess spending eight years in San Diego will do that to you. Nonetheless, this was a very solid IPA and definitely hoppy, but not as much as many others out there. Very nice dry bitter finish.

Sharp, crisp, refreshing mouthfeel. Decently carbonated and medium-bodied. This thing did very well to quench the sting of the plate-full of jalapeños I was nibbling on. Very drinkable as well, and in my opinion not as over the top as everyone makes it out to me. Would definitely order again if I find myself in El Paso.

Menu lists this as 6% abv.

Aroma: A very nice citric hop nose, no malt noted.

Appearance: Hazy amber gold glass sports a thick frothy white head. Classic IPA to the eyes.

Flavor: Nice citric hop burn, almost over the top. Any malt base is lost under a shovel full of green yummy hops.

Mouthfeel: Creamy texture and a medium heavy body.

Overall Impression: I would suggest upping the malt a bit and go ahead and make this a Double IPA. It’s nice, but it’s a full on hop assault, it could use a little complexity.

Golden with a decent off-white head. Very nice citrusy/grapefruit hop aroma and flavor without being overly bitter -- my type of American IPA. Medium bodied and smooth with a dry bitter finish.

Solid !! One of the top 2 regular line-up beers along with the Black Jack Stout...

Per J's website: Northwest-style India pale ale. Very hoppy and strong. Warning, severe hops in this one, not for beginners! Approximately 6% alcohol/weight.
