This is from a 0.5l bottle gifted to me by old friend Iain, who works at Weihenstephan. It was brewed by the Forschungs (research) unit of Weihenstephan. Best by - 30SEP16, and consumed 28SEP16 in Maastricht. Label notes it had Pils malt and Magnum, Spalt and Herrsbrucker hops, checking in at 46 IBUs...
Poured into a Teku, it was a pale yellow, sort of a straw color. Had very active and plentiful carbo. Head was a fluffy, 1" layer of white foam which ebbed to a fine, thin layer. Had solid lacing all over. Nose had some breadyness, subtle spicy notes and a smidge of florality. Body was medium, and a bit of prickle did not detract from the feel.
Flavor was also bready, and a bit crackery with light sweetness. Does have some fruity notes, like green apple and pear. The Pils malt made it crisp and a touch dry. The finish had some pleasant floral, herbal and spicy notes. Quite nice!! Prosit!
