Had on-tap at Fort Rock Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up a standard pint, dark cola brown with a reddish tint when held to light. Fair lacing with broken lines and small spotting.
Smell - Equal amounts of chocolate and roasted malts. Faint earthiness.
Taste - Follows the nose. Chocolate sweetness thats complimented by a really nice roasted malt base. Fair earthy hop bitterness mid-taste helps to further balance the chocolate, leaving a finish that's exceptionally flavored but completely chuggable.
Mouthfeel - Medium in body with fair carbonation. Slick texture with a touch of creaminess. Easy drinker with a slightly dry finish.
Overall - Man, what a great brown. Kinda reminds me of the now defunct American River Coloma Brown. I miss that beer, but this might make for a fine replacement.
