Appearance - Pours less hazy than you might expect, straw yellow with a goldish tinge. White, half finger width head that fades quickly, leaving a mostly barren surface. No lacing.
Smell - Piney and slightly soapy and lightly tropical at first, with a definite bready malt undertone. Pine and soap fades as the beer warms.
Taste - Follows the nose. Upon initial sip, I got a lot of pine, dank and soapiness before a bit of mango, orange and pineapple comes through in the finish. After some time warming up, some guava and touch of banana develops and the pine/soapiness dies out. Bready malts ride beneath, but become particularly noticeable, again, as the brew warms.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with fair carbonation. Drinks smooth and easy from start to finish.
Overall - Completely different beer once it warms, but those pine/dank/soapy notes upon initial sip left me with a bad first impression, especially considering it's aim at being an NE-style IPA. It certainly gets better as it sits, but not so much I'd be willing to spend the time and money again.
