the heavier of the two lagers we had in here, not to say its objectively weighty, just that it has a little more grain depth and body than their posh, which was more in the helles style. this one has some toasted or kilned malt flavor to it, a little deeper color too approaching bronze, lovely white head from the tap. some sweetness in the nose but its delicate, floral honey and toasted bread, simple and sort of timeless to me with the lager yeast. its distinctly english on the malt side, but the lager yeast almost hits german for me, doughy and old worldy and drying. although there is quite a bit of body for this, almost a vienna type to me, the high effervescence keeps it pretty easy drinking, the finish is clean and the palate is quenched on each sip. this is pretty well refined, and while its not radical, its pretty good. i think i prefer the lightness of the posh for summer, but come cooler weather this would be the pick. a pretty quintessential english pale lager. cool spot, we had a great time here.
