sounds like this running beer is a different blend every time, and has some real differences batch to batch, my little bottle does not say the blend number that i can see, but it is listed at 5.8% abv, which from my research likely means its blend ten, but it could also possibly be blend 16, but the verbiage on the label matches what i can find for ten, bottled january 2025 if that clears it up. reviewing here under the generic listing to be safe. its a lovely blend, spelt and rye malt in it, a mix of white burgundy and bourbon whiskey barrels, funky and truly wild to me, fairly malty, real mature. tart but more funky than sour, nuanced and earthy, rustic and agricultural, another cool beer from a brewery i wish i could drink more of. a pretty golden color here, off from clear but with low backlit brightness still, a tightly packed white head on top, looks well conditioned and lively, which i love so much in these types of beers. the nose is very white winey to me, that acid and fruitiness together, some straw and husky grain character, the spelt is apparent, light rye spice too but its subtle, bretty funk, white currant tang, wet animal, a hit of coriander, vanilla, and cooked pear, pretty dynamic, fermenty of course but still grain forward, which is also true in the taste. very dry, sort of saison-esque to me both with the mash and also with some esters in the ferment, sturdy white wine, quite a bit of oak, dry as a bone at the end for having some earlier richness, dried flowers, white peppercorns, preserved lemon, mowed lawn, there could be some unmalted grain in this too. the rye comes on more as it warms, the carbonation is great, and this fermentation profile is excellent, killer funkiness with the cleaner pucker. not super whiskey forward, which i dont mind at all. great stuff, i am eager to get my hands on some more of these running beer blends...
