Dark brown color, with a lighter brown 2 finger head that lingers. Chocolate aroma and flavor. Some coffee notes come out as well. Medium bodied with a solid malt backbone and creamy texture. However, there is a surprising amount of hops to it, but they're well-balanced - they add to the beer, rather than overpower it.

Poured into a Stone flute. Pours a very dark mahogany brown with a one finger dark khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa, light coffee and a hint of char. Flavor is dark toasted malt with moderate char, milk chocolate and cocoa, mild bitter coffee; finishes with semi-dry well toasted malt, coffee, cocoa and grassy hop bitterness. Medium bodied with light creaminess and good carbonation. A somewhat dry, cocoa and moderately hopped stout with a profile that is reminiscent of foreign stouts, but with a little more robust flavor and hopping. Initially this was a little dry for my taste, but it has a great finish with well balanced residual char and hop bitterness and the overall flavor grew on me as I drank it. I liked this quite a bit.
