Look: It pours dark brown with a tan head. It has very good head retention.

Smell: It has some sugary aromas up front with plums. There are some raisin notes in the background with a touch a malt richness that features caramel.

Taste: The malts are stronger in the flavor. There are some roast and caramel notes with a bit of spiciness. The raisins are more prominent than the plums. There are some deep dark cherry notes in the backgound.

Feel: It has a medium full body and is has a low sweetness up front. There is a bit of a odd flavor in the finish that does take a little away from the taste.

Overall: A complex beer with good flavors, but the finish has an odd flavor note that detracts from the overall presentation.

Tasted on tap at My Way Tavern in Holly Springs, NC. This was a supremely dark beer with decent head. It had a rich, malt nose and flavors of burnt grain and light smoke. This was a decent beer, but maybe not as deep and complex as some examples.
