Im a big fan of berliners and appreciate this brewery in particular for their take on it and the willingness to not only experiment but get it into our area too.
Had on draft at Hunger N' Thirst Lancaster, PA served in a snifter. The brew appears light yellow in color, slightly hazy with a firm white cap that holds very well for the style. The nose brings forth plenty of typical berliner character, lemony lactic and wheaty but with a firm smoked character that integrates well. Its a pretty bold smoke inclusion and its surprising how well this works together. The taste brings much of the same but with an even stronger focus on smoke that lingers into the aftertaste. This is light bodied, modestly carbonated and quite enjoyable. In every since this is more akin to a Lichtenhainer than Berliner. Id drink this on the reg if it was possible.

Pours fairly clear straw golden with a thin white head and little lacing... part of Bittercreek's '15 FunkFest...
I am not a fan of smoked beers, but I am gonna try to rate this for what it is and NOT for what I think of it. :-)
Tart and lemony, and the smokiness is unmistakable oak, immediately reminds me of that Oak-smoked doppelbock from Schlenkerla.
Bigger than expected smoke for such a light brew.. but the Berliner Weisse elements help balance.. Smoke gets a little acrid and drying on the finish... Wheaty sweetness is the tie that binds... Okay even for my palate but most geeks will probably really dig it.
Really cool that Bittercreek keeps expanding the FunkFest year after year.

I had this on-tap in a goblet at the Stumbling Monk in Seattle.
Appearance: light yellow hue with a light haze and a creamy white finger of foam. Quite attractive.
Smell: a bit of sourness and a bit of acrid smokiness. Smells like a Lapsang Souchang was brewed in a traditional Berliner weisse. Weird but good.
Taste: flavor is much like the aroma. A nice puckering sourness followed by burning tires. I like it.
Mouthfeel: medium light body with a good carbonation and decent creaminess.
Overall: this beer is weird in all the right ways. It just happens to appeal to me.

Pours light straw color with a frothy fine bubble head. Dynamic effervescene. Sticky cylindrical laces. The nose is musty, sour, dank, and salty. Comes close to a wet sock. The feel is very smooth, light, and crisp. The taste is tart yeast, lacto, straw, and light malts. The smoke is extremely subtle, and hits at the very end.
This is a good session sour. Very light with a moderate tartness level. The smoke is very minimal but works well.

On draft at Pizzeria Paradiso, Dupont.
The beer is pale yellow and transparent with a small was that fades to nil. Aromas of camp fire, fruit, yeast, wheat. Smoke character dominates the flavor, with white wine notes coming in mid palate. Light in body with gentle prickly carbonation and a sour, puckering finish. Interesting and unusual.
