Poured from a howler purchased at Collective.
Appearance - Pours a deep amber gold with three fingers of frothy white head.
Smell - earthy, citrus, piney, floral, and leafy hops, grapefruit and citrus peel, light pine resin, caramel, bready malts, and earthy yeast.
Taste - earthy, citrus, piney, floral, and leafy hops upfront. The grapefruit and citrus peel come through next alongside some pine resin notes. The caramel, bready malts, and earthy yeast round out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky from the hops with the malts and pine resin lingering.
Overall - An assertive American IPA that is pretty well executed. I wish the hops played more of a dominant role in this one but nonetheless a nice introduction for those that like want to venture into "piney, hoppy, and true West Coast IPAs". A pleasant tipple on this gorgeous fall afternoon here in Cowtown.
