Appearance - Pours a slightly hazy pale amber with two fingers of foamy white head.
Smell - Tropical fruit (pineapple, mango), citrus fruit (orange, grapefruit peel), bready malts, hint of caramel sweetness, slightly herbacious.
Taste - Tropical and citrus fruits as noted above, with a surprisingly lower level of bitterness than expected. Balanced with a bready, caramel-like malt that lingers into the finish.
Mouthfeel - Smooth and "pillowy" body (thanks for the right word, Ol' B - couldn't put my finger on it) with moderate carbonation. Medium bodied. Slightly sticky and dry on the palate.
Overall - A refreshing alternative take on the NEIPA that isn't so juice-forward. I appreciate the low bitterness and the malt balance.
