Collaboration with Heinen's. Canned on 3/25/21. 16oz can poured into a tulip. Pours a hazy auburn/copper with orange hues; creamy light khaki head that fades leaving nice retention and sticky lacing. The aromas are malt forward along with some caramel and citrus. Some floral notes coming through as it slightly warms. Some hops as well. The flavors follow the nose. More caramel and citrus. Some orange and grapefruit coming through. Some chocolate and toffee in the mix. Hints of pine along with some floral notes. Subtle hints of rye and/or black pepper to give it a mild spiciness. Solid bitterness. Solid hop flavors. Subtle sweetness. Malts do their thing. Alcohol basically goes unnoticed for the most part. Mouthfeel is full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's fluffy, smooth and slightly creamy.
This is a pretty solid "Imperial Red Ale". Nice blend of malts and hops. It has everything that you'd look for in the style, more or less. Well done.
