Gentle in both bitterness and alcohol, allowing the true malt character to shine through, Dear Old Blighty brings rich notes of toffee, biscuits, nuts, and toast. The traditional English malts, hops, and yeast combine to make an astonishing session beer. Named after an old military phrase used by British soldiers to express their longing for home.

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear very dark brown (approaching black) in color with light to moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate chestnut brown + cola brown colored highlights. The beer has a finger tall sudsy foamy dark beige head that slowly reduces to a large patch of thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of roasted + nutty + caramel malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness and light aromas of cocoa + coffee as well as light aromas of earthy hops.
T: Upfront there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of roasted + nutty + caramel malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by just shy of moderate flavors of cocoa and freshly roasted coffee. Finally there are earthy hops. There are light amounts of lingering roasty bitterness in the finish.
M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth.
O: Easy to drink with a low ABV and well hidden alcohol. Enjoyable but a touch more roasty than the other English Dark Mild Ales I have tried. Super sessionable.
