Brewed exclusively for F3Nation in Charlotte

Side straddle hop, what you kids call a jumping jack, is a cornerstone exercise of F3. Unusually counted in four-count cadence, it is the perfect companion of cardiovascular, muscular, and stretching effort. Repetitions north of 30 have even known to become sneaky hard. As the lactic acid begins to build, this seemingly simple exercise takes on an increasingly demonic twist. We've heard tales of counts up in the triple digits. Pain increases as the Q counts louder. Welcome to the gloom. How many cans can you do?

A bouquet of big tropical fruity aromas comes from a massive dry hopping of Citra, Eukanot, Loral, and Ella. This one is all hops, all the time. Expect just a hint of bitterness but be surprised by the depth of hop character as it evolves on the palette. Notes of resin, sweet clementines, curacao orange peel and mango all have their place in this beer.

A: Pours a hazy medium golden honey in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate apricot + peach + medium golden yellow + burnt orange colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense sudsy foamy light tan head that slowly reduces to a large patch of slightly mottled very thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of citrus/grapefruit, citrus/orange zest, herbal, and pine/resin hops over the top of slightly lighter than moderate aromas of toasted + caramel hops with a light amount of caramel sweetness.

T: Upfront there are slightly lighter than moderate flavors of toasted + caramel hops with a light amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by slightly stronger than moderate flavors of citrus/grapefruit, citrus/orange zest, herbal, and pine/resin hops which impart a light to moderate amount of lingering bitterness.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly crisp initially with a hint of dryness in the finish.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol. Kind of an old school American IPA.

A: The beer is hazy dark yellow in color. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that has very good retention properties and consistently left a short head covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of grapefruit are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and is dominated by flavors of grapefruit along with underlying hints of caramel malts. There is a slight amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and slightly crisp and juicy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer starts out smelling and tasting like an astringent citrusy West Coast IPA but is hardly bitter at all.
