200ml chalice at Biera, so named once again after a big fan of the brewery.

This beer appears a hazy, medium golden apricot colour, with a teeming tower of puffy, finely foamy, and chunky off-white head, which leaves some scattered sudsy islet lace around the glass as it slowly seeps out of sight.

It smells of gritty and grainy cereal malt, a lesser biscuity wheatiness, some mild aged lemon peel, a faint muddled tropical fruitiness, some damp minerality, subtle earthy spice, and very tame leafy, herbal, and musty hop bitters. The taste is grainy and crackery pale malt, some wheaten breakfast cereal, a bit of mixed berry fruity esters, sort of sour lemon rind, somewhat phenolic yeast, and more understated earthy, leafy, and musky floral green hoppiness.

The carbonation is adequate in its palate-assuring frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and mostly smooth, as the yeast takes a little chink out of the proverbial armour here. It finishes off-dry, the robust malt easily contending with any lingering hop aspirations.

Overall - despite the silly-ass, Patchouli-soaked moron sitting upwind from me at the bar, I powered through this one (like a true pro), and came out the other end appreciating a well-made, frooty wheat ale. I'm glad they're doing well by you, Yen!
