OKT is slightly hazy and mid copper in color. Head is mousse like, cream colored, and fairly lasting.
OKT's aroma is intriguing, and hard to pin down at first. Up front aromas remind me of stoned, or orchard fruit. If anything it smells somewhat of ripe plum and nectarine. Deep and juicy, the kind of fruit to drizzle fruit down your chin as you eat. Hints of caramel and bread give the nose a little added depth, just enough to keep things from being too one sided. The finish is mildly peppery in its hop profile, a decent choice given the ripe fruit also on OKT's nose.
OKT is a smooth, medium bodied ale. As with the nose, OKT's aroma starts off with ripe fruit. Here I get ripe plums, supporting notes of nectarine, and what could be ripe fig. Caramel and toasted grain add sweetness and a gentle sort of nuttiness to the flavor profile. The finish has an interesting hop profile. On the one hand it's crisp, bitter, and slightly lasting. Preceding this however, is a pleasantly herbal quality completely at home with the rest of OKT's flavors.
. OKT is pleasantly surprising when compared against other craft beers. The flavors of ripe fruit are a pleasant departure from the more bread and malt oriented standard of most beer. Hops are crisp, bitter, and most importantly, balancing in nature. If kept slightly on the cool side this beer would deftly walk the line between flavorful and refreshing on a hot, sumer day. Nicely done.
