Eclipse Brewing

vibe: Great cozy atmosphere, nestled in what looks like a house, but was previously a building for permits and licenses. Parking is best suited on E. Chestnut street. The bar is modest, wooden, 10 seats at best, with two extra additional small tables. A tour revealed a 1.5 barrel system, 3 pot, which by the owners definition doesn't even qualify for nano-brewery status, is regarded as home brewer. lol. Nestled in a garage type setting is the 3 pot system, a separate room, temp. controlled sits several plastic conical. The additional space is room for grains, etc. Amazing how an whole operation sits within the confines of a garage. Getting back to the setting, they offer several theme nights, I visited during a Saturday, which saw several quick stops within a two hour time period. Outside is a Terrance with hop vines, centennial, growing alongside the building. The only knock i really have is the lack of dedicated glassware.

Quality: The quality of the beers are above average. Cleanly brewed, very drinkable, approachable.

Service: service was friendly, the owners daughter, both inquisitive and appreciative of how you came to heard of them. A map detailed they people who visited from all over the world, pretty impressive for a small town brewery. Home style atmosphere, friendly, accommodating.

Selection: Honestly what can you say about a place that offers over 18 different beers on tap an any given time. From DIPA, to pales, to Gose, wee-heavy, a popular cream ale, light, and a rye beer, along with a field beer at 18% and a rye beer. $5 pours. Very good value.

Quite a unique, odd little spot. 18 beers on tap, all different and unique. Nitro imperial stout, 18% raspberry barleywine, 10% imperial cream ale, 10% fruit beer... daring and different, pretty damn good!

This guy loves what he does and it shows. Always something good on tap and peanuts and popcorn to boot.

Eclipse Brewing is a charming little brewery inside of a house in Merchantville, NJ right near the Blue Monkey Tavern. It's a small place but you're sure to find a seat. There's no food (NJ state law) but you can bring it in, and they have 18 beers on tap. They're not the greatest, but again, you're sure to find something you like, if not a few. It's comfortable and fun with a great staff and great locals. Worth a stop.
