I like my reds malty but not overly hoppy, and this fit the bill. Too many places over-hop their reds, and it takes away from the balance of the beer. That's too bad when it happens, because reds are underrated. I'd even like to see this one pumped up a bit to 8% or so, just to see how it tastes. It's a good base beer and I could have this one again.

I'm trying this at the brewery. It poured a clear amber with thin white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had hints of caramel malt. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. Good sweet base with clean finish. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it was a solid beer.
