Old German folklore tells the origin story of Oktoberfest and how this epic beer came to be loved by ‘fest goers all over the world. Imagine yourself surrounded by beautiful rolling fields of grass with high plateaus all around peaked with towering castles, awaiting the arrival of the royal families for the ceremony. A bright golden hue shines over you as you raise your glass up in to the sky in toast of the celebration. Your first taste of this extremely approachable and balanced beer reveals a medium body with aromas of toffee and lightly toasted biscuit. You can’t resist the caramel sweetness. Have another. Prost!

22 oz. can from Total Wine in Tustin, CA. Wow, if I could give a 6 for appearance I would! Absolutely beautiful, crystal clear golden yellow with a white head. Has the clean, crisp aroma of a festbier with maybe a bit of green leaf hops that normally wouldn't be there. Hay, lemon, cream and vanilla in the taste, with a creamy body. There is a nice light Nobel hop bitterness that perfectly balances the light honey sweetness. The body is light but not watery, and all of this makes this beer extremely drinkable. Ends with a light bitterness around the tongue and some residual honey sweetness on top. Excellent festbier from an American brewery.

Don’t normally like festbiers too much, but this one is intriguing. I kept wanting to take more sips to understand it. Strong hop character surprisingly, even though bitterness is very low. No aroma at all. Not much head, but that was probably because of the bartender’s soft pour. Nice lacing. Kinda cloudy. I feel like it’s more like a low bitterness Pilsner than a festbier. Not much malt is coming through.
