Presentation: 0.5 liter brown glass Euro generic "stubby" bottle, white/gold/red/brown label

Appearance: reddish brown color, large tan head, minimal sticky lacing

Smell: caramel, sweet malt, minor hops

Taste: medium body, smooth mouthfeel, caramel, roasted malt, pleasant hoppy bitterness in background

Note 1: The proper name for this beer "Königsberg Dunkel"
Note 2: The proper style (in my opinion) "Munich Dunkel Lager"
Note 2: very solid, refreshing and highly drinkable beer

Came in a dark brown half liter bottle. Ivan Taranov contract brews this beer in Kaliningrad, at the old Königsberger Brauerei, and has given it the original German name for the city, presumably to emphasize the beer's German, rather than a Russian heritage.

Pours a clear red under a small tan head that paradoxically lingered long but left no lace. The nose is a nice combination of malt and citrus. The mouth is smooth and barley sweet. The taste starts off caramel, citrus and grain, chased by a mildly hoppy finish. The aftertaste is mostly barley. I could see myself drinking this frequently.
