This beer is brewed for the Taranov group in Khabarovsk, on the Russian-Chinese border in the Far East. I bought it in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, on Sakhalin Island. Brewed on June 9, I opened it on July 20. The list of ingredients conforms to the purity law.
Odd looking pale lager. It was a cloudy, bubbly very pale yellow, almost white, under a thin snow white head that lingered for a while, but left no lace. The nose was a bit sour, just a little bit on the OK side of skunky. The mouth was tingly, and a little sour. The initial taste was sour, with an undertone of vegetables (spinach?). There's plenty of hops here in the finish, but the aftertaste features a not completely pleasant battle between bitter, sour and veggie. As a pale lager, it is pretty bad. I was tempted to call it a witbeer and give it higher marks, but I know that's not what this is.
