Mardi Gras hit these guys pretty hard, I guess that's a good thing. Saying that they were out of a few I wanted to try. Maybe next time. Great microbrewery attitude and look here, I liked it.

A good brewery with a wide selection of beers, that also has food available, the mushroom taco was excellent. The beers I tried were above average. Well worth the hike!

This is a pretty cool reuse of an older industrial space. As you approach, you will see the porch seating which is covered by the overhang. Inside is the service bar, the kitchen, seating areas, TVs, and some video games. There is a large beer garden outback that also includes a small stage. it is a nice space.

Service at the bar was friendly and was willing to give out some selection advice. We didn't try the food but lots of people were there for the Mexican food they offer. Since it was the season, they also had a crawfish boil going on.

There was a decent band that started at 3 p.m. the Saturday we were there.

Beers were fine, not a huge selection but the beers we had were fine.

This place is kid and dog friendly. Lots of kids there after their little league game was over. They were a rambunctious bunch but at least the parents were enjoying drinking beers. So if kids running around aren't your thing, maybe wait till later in the day.

I will have no problem returning for more beers and next time I will try the food.

A nice open area taproom and patio with plenty of outdoor seating, pet friendly, the taco place was solid. A nice little venture outside of the touristy area of New Orleans.

While I don't recommend the route we took, as the road isn't very pedestrian friendly, we had been walking from Domilise's to Nola for a rather cardio centric brewery crawl that was to also include Miel and Urban South thereafter, but then we started smelling that classic spent grain aroma way before we should have. And to our surprise, as we must have missed it during our quick look at the map, here we are, Port Orleans Brewing. Being that we'd already been to Nola a few times in the past, we decided to replace this as our first stop instead, and were glad we did so.

Aptly named and right off the Mississippi--which you unfortunately can't really view from any of the businesses due to the heavy duty port operations that are actually going on behind the tall barriers--the space is nice and wide open. It was clearly (obviously) a port warehouse at one point, but the front of house has been gussied up quite a bit, and is far more customer friendly than you usually find in these converted warehouse breweries.

Service is simply bartender governed, taking and placing orders directly at the small bar, and the taplist is mildly varied, but heavy on the trendy, goofy slushy and hazy front. I personally found they were more successful with traditional styles like Helles and Mexican lagers, and wasn't as big a fan of their heavily flavored brews, but it was a fun first stop all the same.

Although it was taco Tuesday, we sadly did not partake, as this city has so much good god damn food that we have to pace ourselves with great deliberation.

Place is owned by a former Saints player. Very classic brewpub vibe, with attentive staff. Food is awesome, probably the best food available at similar breweries in town. Burgers are solid and the buffalo chicken loaded fries were killing. Flights available. The beer is very safe to be honest. Lots of seating and tvs everywhere.

Open space inside, front porch and outside beer garden. Fast service, knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions. Beer lists (2/25/19) was heavy on IPA's which leads to selection with a lower rating from me. Worth a shot if you are around the area, make sure you take advantage of the "kill a keg $3 pints" beer if its your style (was the I.P.A. (Interference on Pass Attempt IPA)

The patio, brick wall behind the bar, wooden tables and chairs, and general friendliness of the Tasting Room are all positives. If you must offer views of the brewery, brick-framed windows are the way to go. There are only a few, but still too many televisions for my taste. Overall, a decent compromise between British pub friendliness and coziness, and “Look, we’re a brewery!”

Port Orleans is a typical taproom located at the brewery which is amongst other warehouse looking buildings...the industrial decor with standard bar and metal bar stools that is surrounded by picnic like tables. The beer quality is decent and the food was quite good. The service was fine and made good recommendations. Their were 16 house beers available but the food menu was a touch limited. Certainly worth a visit if one is doing a brewery tour.

With thirteen beers on tap, this is a decent tap room. They tend to make paler beers but the darker ones tend to be better offerings.

The location is on the New Orleans side of the Mississippi about five miles west of downtown. The place is huge given the amount of parking on this road.

I ordered the sausage with spaetzle which was delicious and homemade. Overall, this was a nice sidetrack on my beer tour.
