From a growler. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, brown head of foam. It smelled of cocoa, toffee and toffee. Sweet chocolate flavor with a creamy touch.

this one was one of the less impressive beers at the relaxing and tasty broken clock. i wanted a lot more from it, its wishy washy in that it has a really light body, and doesnt seem to take the full leap into stoutdom on the malts, which have as much medium sort of cocoa character as they do roast, and the body just isnt really there for me. similarly, the lactose is so mild as to be relatively inconsequential. is it a sweet stout or not? dont tease me. that sounds harsh, but this is the only boring beer on their list, and after a couple of good ones, i expected a bit more from this stout, which isnt bad, and has no technical flaws, but just sort of bores me. some bitterness out of nowhere in the end, a lot of caramel malts it seems like in the center too, but the two hit at different moments, and for me anyway, its not completely congruent or balanced. lactose comes on late but is minimal, beer never really finishes, seems thin, undercarbonated, and frankly underwhelming. my least favorite from an otherwise awesome brewery experience. good maybe if you like a lighter stout, but it seemed not substantial enough to me.
