Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a ruggedly dark brown close to black color with a thin finger’s worth of white to off white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Sly stringy lace. The aroma had a nice roasty blend of coffee beans to cocoa beans. Some nuttiness and then some earthiness. The flavor leans towards the sweet side initially but opens up to blend nicely between the roast and the sweet. Mild toast in the aftertaste along with the coffee beans. Quick semi-sweet to bitter and roasty finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine with an adequate ABV feeding the malt level and keeping from being cloying. Overall, good porter that I would have again.
