A cloudy, bright gold, with no head or lacing. I mean like...none. Still, it's a pretty color. Smell is apples and band-aids, not bad though. Actually tastes pretty good, malty with a surprising little bitter/roasted finish. Mouthfeel is also surprisingly thick and coating. I would definitely have another one of these. Reminds me of a maibock.
Thanks to BigLove for the bottle.

12oz bottle from BigLove as part ofThe Blue & Gray BIF. Thanks for the opportunity.
Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1/4" white head above the golden brew. Head is magically (watch it disappear in a flash), and lacing is average at best. Aroma is sweet malts, but a sour scent comes in late. Taste is that same malt sweetness up front, and kind of just coasts from there, no hoppiness of note. Mouthfeel is acceptable, nothing bad, and drinkability is passable as well. Not something I'd probably search out.

Presentation: 12 oz longneck bottle - no freshness info. A pelican on the front of the label.
Appearance: Poured a slightly hazy yellow color with just a hint of orange. Thin head that faded quickly - some small bubbles.
Smell: Unique smell of grains and something like mead.
Taste: Very tart taste, with a slightly slick mouthfeel. Medium bodied.
Overall impression: Thanks to BigLove for the opportunity to try this Louisiana beer. This one is a bit different than anything I have tried before - very easy to drink and refreshing.

I few reviews down the list I read that this beer was bought out and is being discontinued, which is kinda strange since I just found it in my Baton Rouge liquor store for the first time a few days ago. Day's Golden is a hazy golden color with a short, creamy head. The aroma is very sweet. The smells seem to be a combination of bready malts and honey. The taste is also sweet, malts and honey again. There is also a bit of tartness mixed into the honey flavor. Fortunately, I think it adds some character. Also a touch of herbal flavor is noted, especially in the finish. Drinkability is good, but this beer isn't anything special. I would say this brew is closer to an American all-malt lager than a Helles.

Straight from Louisiana via BigLove, this beer poured pale golden and fizzy, but the head wouldnt hold at all. The smell was bready and on sweetish. The taste was oddly sour and doughy with almost no hop bitterness. The body was medium thick and aftertaste sharp and mineralized. Not a best representation of the style.

Appearance This one pours a slightly hazy orange in color with some light carbonation and a good head.
Smell The pure lagered grain is a nose full. It actually has some notes that remind me of sour mash. No hops to speak of in this fella, just the grain and a light orange sweetness.
Taste This is singular lagered grain. I cant find a hint of hops and really just the smallest suggestion of sweetness. Again, the grain has a slight sour note to it.
Mouthfeel This one is in between light and medium-bodied. Its barely carbonated.
Drinkability This one went down well enough. I enjoyed the simplicity of this effort and it fit well into the style guidelines. I think if it wasnt for that light, off sour flavor Id seek it out again.
