Pours a hazy, bright orange coloration with a large, foamy head. Smells of light biscuity malt and citrus/tropical hops, with notes of grapefruit, passion fruit and mango, as well as some light floral accents. Taste is a great balance of light biscuity malt and fruity, juicy, slightly floral and dank hops, with citrus and tropical notes of grapefruit, mango and papaya, as well as a light, grassy dankness. Finishes with a light/medium bitterness, just a hint of hop burn and some grapefruit, passion fruit and weed lingering in the aftertaste. Soft mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
I actually kinda liked this, which was a little surprising to me considering that it's brewed with Loral hops, which I hate. While there is a bit of that usually quite strong floral character to it, it's really not too bad, with the citrus and tropical notes really standing out here along with a lighter dankness and light hints of floral and herbal accents. There's a bit of hop burn in the finish, but that is really not too bad as well, while there's a rather nice mouthfeel to this. Overall, this makes for an enjoyable New England IPA despite the Loral hops and slight hop burn, with a great. mouthfeel. With the strong passion fruit and dank notes, there's a real Strata vibe to this, interesting that they were not actually used, but I guess that you can get these notes from Mosaic and Citra as well.
