On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Black colour, large and creamy beige head. Aroma of roast malts, coffee and some pine. The fairly dry flavour has the same elements, quite bitter finish.

When the ring-pull was pulled I wondered if the can contained a CO2 widget as it let out an unusually long hiss...
L- Well it certainly has plenty of head! Very dark chestnut brown, slightly hazy from what I can see through the darkness. 2Cm deep tan creamy looking head. Holds very well considering it's 7.5%, whereabouts/+ the ABV% reduces surface-tension and prejudices head retention. Hence I suspect this has added CO2, fwiw.
S- Some charring, light coffee?, hints of smoke.
T- Charring, quite heavy. A bit of toffee, briefly? But to be clear, though with is a 'hipster' black beer, refreshingly, it's not over-rich never mind sweet. If there's coffee it's mild and smooth, not pointy/in-your-face. Then the charring returns, it's notably prominent and clear to id in this beer. Heavy roast, no wonder the head is notably dark. Finally after 3-4 sips I get hints of some brightness, probably a combo of hops+ABV%+saturated CO2. ... 5mins later. As it warms a touch I can taste the level of richness beginning to rise, so I shall try not to linger longer...
F- Punchy, notably clear and clean charred aspect, very well balanced. Richness starts to come on to the radar a few mins in as it warms a touch.
O- Pleasantly surprised, a hipster beer that isn't doing the oft 'more is less' bonkers stuff. It's pretty intense and a slow-sipper, so a candidate for sharing and not lingering from chilled. I'm drinking this in June, but I'd suggest it might work better as an autumn/winter beer.
440ml crafty-can with vibrant turquoise label. BB 28/03/2025. Bought from Trembling Madness York £4.80

--- Now to read the can for any helpful info. Ingreds of note barley + rye, and that's it folks!
