On tap at the brewpub. Attractive copper color with a light tan head that leaves good lacing. Citrus and pine hop aromas emanate from the glass. Flavor is sweet from all the crystal malt, with ripe citrus hoppiness and an appreciable bitterness. But I don't care how bitter they make it, it isn't going to cover up the saccharine quality of crystal malt. Good balance, mouthfeel is a bit thin, pretty easy to drink. Just too sweet for me.

Pours darkish amber, slightly cloudy with off-white head. Beautiful malty aroma with a crisp pine hop component and subtle citrus notes. Distinctly bitter with a slight roasted quality. Somewhat watery mouthfeel and a bit over bittered, sort of kills anything underneath it. Drinkable, but probably not a repeat order.
This is an Imperial Red Ale by the way, not an IPA.

In my glass it is unfiltered red-orange with a thick white head. Pine, citrus Hop aroma hits you in the pour and stays through the finish. There is a large hop-malt imbalance. Malt is missing-and all you get is hops in the taste. Which makes it a difficult beer to finish more than one-not enough balance. Mouthfeel is thin and drinkability bellow average. A rare miss from these folks.
