On tap at the brewpub. Pours ruby black with a big cocoa colored head. Aroma is pretty standard stout fare: chocolate graham cracker malts with some sweetened coffee. Subtle acidity on the nose. Flavor is a nice blend of almost cherry-like tartness and roasted malts. Sort of cough-syrupy actually. Butter and booze on the exhale. This is way against my normal stance but I kinda wish this was more sugary. The roasted malt profile is pretty dry/hard, which lets the methol/robitussin aspect of the tartness come through a little too strongly. There’s some aspirin bitterness on the finish. Oily on the palate but no alcohol flavor. Pretty solid beer for Seabright standards.
