Not retired as of Dec 5, 2021. In fact, there's a great grandpappy now at 11.4%
a) inky, soft, flkattish near black body, little loose head.
s) licorice, smoke, wood, peat.
t) Liking the darker flavors around the aroma
f) Hefty feel.
o) If you like licorice and smoke, this is it.

Served by Harpoon Harry's in Dana Point, Cal., in a 10 oz. glass. Despite arriving with no head, the beer produced minimal lacing from the movement of the glass while sipping. The deep chocolate color of Docent Grandpappy foreshadowed the dominance of chocolate in the taste, although coffee, malty, and mildly hoppy tones were well blended in the mix. This brew is balanced, flavorful and has some texture to the pleasant mouth feel. A very enjoyable Imperial Stout, which I will seek out when I am in California.
