Poured on-tap at the brewpub and served in a stemmed pilsner, the beer is a very dark, blackish coloring with a foamy, light, clingy, tan head. Aromas of grapefruit tart and sweet, with a semisweet chocolate backbone, hints of coffee bitterness, and a solid resinous hops characteristic. More sweet and resinous than anything else. Flavors are sticky and dank forward, with a solid bolt of grapefruit to accompany. Very bitter and dry, with notes of cut grass and pine pitch, and the citrus character cuts right through it. Roasted chocolate and coffee backbone, with a dry, smooth feel. The aftertaste is more of the tart citrus and dank hops resin, with a smooth, dry finish. The grapefruit lingers on nicely. This is a good beer.
