Served on tap at the High Point location. Pours a pitch black color with a nice, strong, puffy, tan colored head. Generous in size and great retention. Plenty of lacing going on as well.
Aroma was mostly burnt grains with some coffee tossed in. There was some oakiness but it was minimal and not entirely noticeable. Otherwise, the aroma was pretty pedestrian.
Nice flavor. Not a whole lot of oak flavor but there was some, as well as nice vanilla hints and plenty of the roasted and burnt grains. Quite bready for a stout as well.
I was pleased with this one. Slightly different than the stout they regularly have on tap. Easy drinker and a welcome addition to the line. I just wish they would brew some of these "specialty" beers more than once so they can be sampled in the future.
