Collaboration with Fifth Hammer Brewing Co.

The Dimey Nickel is a dank West Coast Double IPA brewed in collaboration with our friends at Fifth Hammer Brewing Co. Notes of ripe fruit, pine, kiwi, passionfruit, and white grape are punctuated by prickly carbonation and a clean punch of bitterness.

The head is more massive, lasting, thick and sculpted. The aroma remains much the same. The taste is a huge improvement - more mellowed and balanced; still retaining a mild grainy taste while the alcohol harshness and harsh phenolic elements have nearly disappeared; hop bitterness is bold yet not over-powering. The mouthfeel remains the same.

A fine improvement with a bit of aging...
-------------
Yellow-orange body; lively, coarse carbonation; decent white head, thick and soapy. Outstanding citrus edge to the smell; orange and lemon. Rather mellow taste; light biscuit; pine resin; a bit of harsh alcohol presence; phenolic. Medium-heavy body; lightly syrupy; boozy heat; fairly dry overall.

I didn't find any dating information on the can, so who knows when this one was packaged. The initial impression based on looks and smell is very promising, but the taste nearly reeks of harsh alcohol and other phenolic elements that, in this case, aren't overly appealing. Oh, well...

Pours a slight hazy gold with one finger white frothy head into a pint glass. Nice lacing retained throughout.

Smells of mellow tropical fruits, more inclined toward passion fruit than pineapple.

Tastes of pine with some earth dankity doo da, pop tones of kiwi

Feels Medium-full, creamy, slight drying and balanced bitter-end

Really solid west coast, can sneak up on you with its 8%
