On tap at brewery:
This beer is a murky orange that allows me to see shadows of my fingers through it, but that's about it. A tightly formed ring of off-white head has a few atolls on the surface, but mainly provides a stream of lace here and there.
Nose has a light grainy note to it, but is really quite pithy bitter. A generic citrus - more orange pulp and rind note pretty much sums the nose up.
Taste starts with that citrusy note, and turns towards the bitter fairly quickly. I initially thought this beer was an interesting, slightly citrusy pale ale. As I get more into it, I start to realize the beer has quite a grapefruit pith bitterness and a dry, spicy pine bite. I think this would fit in with other West Coast (PNW) IPAs, per my experience. Medium body and a nice carbonation level.
This beer has a certain rawness to it, and I feel I can get almost every one of the 60 IBUs that this beer supposedly holds. I might like a little more balance, but the hoppiness is not out of control of tongue-ripping, mainly aided by the light citrus juice notes up front.
