There is nothing quite as tasty as a fresh hopped beer, and this Fresh Hop Pale Ale was truly a joy to brew. At 5AM on September 24th, our entire brewing crew loaded our camper and refrigerated van on a mission to bring the finest Belma in the Yakima Valley back to our friends in Northern California. We are very pleased to share with you this single batch brew imbued with robust notes of Strawberry and Melon. Enjoy fresh!!!

1st review of this beer ever done on BA. Had this last month at the Green River Brewery/Night club in Winters, CA.
Right away I notice a disappointing appearance issue: The beer looks too malty. Its straight up not having a good time full fledged thick amber. If you're trying to showcase the Belma hop, all that crystal malt ain't gonna be helpful. 1/3" off white head on top. Commercial tug job about strawberry and melon in the aroma is overstated big time. Again, perhaps the toffee and caramel like maltiness and viscosity is overshadowing the hops. Not my fault.
In the taste, the hops come through slightly, but still, when I think berries and melon, I don't think something so weighed down with heavy bready malt and werther's toffee stickiness. Had more grapefruit like bitterness than melon or berry hop impact. The malt bill is too heavy for a pale ale, much less one trying to show off a hop you don't see all that often. Could be good with some recipe tweak.
