Another selection towards the end of the day at the 2022 dipa festival. Even though I'm writing this review over 14 months later, this is still the first review for this beer here at the Untappd owned property. Cope seeth with bigoted headlines for compensation. This one poured an amber color, the maltyboi SRM up in here. Where were you when they opened that crystal malt bag? Its pretty though, 1/2" off white head.
The aroma strokes the Citra hop giving a mixture of caramel laden barley and dark overripe oranges. One mold spot on the rind.
The taste is much the same way, has a heavier mouth feel of a body. Plenty of Citra and bittering hops, the commercial tug job speaketh to the 5 pounds per barrel. Comet, Belma and Cashmere, triumvirate of lesser used hops, although I guess Cashmere pops up a little more frequently. Heavy wet oranges. I dunno, maybe amp up some carbonation on this one to offset the weight. Its weird how they talk about not being as dark as the original, but like, every version is still a throwback to the crystal malt ibu wars.
