From the label: The same Rye grains that nourished many of our ancestors in the old country also provided early West Coast IPAs with a unique malty character that is slightly grassy, nutty and spicy. It pairs well with our featured hop in this recipe, Amarillo and is supported with dry-hop additions of Citra and Simcoe as well.

To be kind, it's frothy. To be accurate, there's way too much stark white foam from a simple pour from a pint can to be acceptable. The contents of a pint can can't be emptied into a clear glass liter mug in one pour. That's how much foam was created. Typically, the foam recedes quickly, unevenly and unattractively. Even after the second attempt to empty the can, the massive foam prevents it. This is amongst the foamiest pours you will find and that’s not an attribute. Once attention is finally given to the liquid beneath the big mess, it's a nice bright orange-amber that's opaque. The aroma is good, with dry citrus and pine notes present. It tastes good, hoppy, but also grassy. The rye has a nice way of cutting the bitter bite of the hops, but allows their full taste to come through. A little grassiness is the cost; but, expecting that, it's not a problem if anticipated. Rye in the wort usually has a wonderful way of smoothing out even the most bitter hoppings, whilst also allowing their tastes to come through. This isn't among the most bitterly hopped, although a good dose of Simcoe isn't to be underappreciated. This is a good IPA that uses rye in the best way for an inclusion of an additional taste layer and a softening agent. After all the foam recedes, there's actually some nice stratified glass lacing. So, maybe it's worth the wait for the foam to turn into beer.
