12 oz can poured into a nonic pint glass no canned on date.

A: very rich black body with barely a hint of light escaping. Head was a tiny small bubbled fizzy mocha colored affair.

S: lots of dark chocolate, honey, roasted malts, maybe a little coffee on the end.

T: fairly sweet, lots of the chocolate up front. A little bit of the roastiness then some of the bitterness. Finishes with a a little burnt caramel and malts. A little bit of a smoke taste as it finishes too.

M: medium to fuller feel finishes pretty dry on the tongue.

O: it's a pretty good beer drinks a bit more like a stout than a Porter. I'm not crazy about that slightly bitter acidic finish.

12 ounce can, reviewed on 6/2/17. No dating on the can, but since the brewery just opened for business on May 19th I figure this was canned within the last 3 or so weeks. Served in a Hightower Brewing pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch and a half tan head. Head retention and lacing are both excellent. The brew smells like roasted malt, coffee, milk and bittersweet chocolate, and some grassy hops. I think the taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but with a hint of licorice. Also, the roasty/bitter flavors are stronger. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's creamy and coating with a good amount of carbonation. Have to say this is a good porter, if you like the more roasty/bitter ones then you'll really enjoy this brew. If I lived closer to Hightower this would definitely be a regular purchase for me, if you're in the area buy this for sure! $11.99 a 6-pack.
