Standard brown half liter bottle with the usual Bagbier label featuring a painting of some 18th century building under a bright blue sky. The name Bagbier is in the latin alphabet, while Nadyezhnoye, which means reliable, is in Cyrrillic. The back label is in Russian, Kazakhstani and Kyrgyz. Ingredients conform to the purity law. Best before 8/20/04, I opened it on 4/10/04.

Pours a clear orangish gold under a 1.5 finger white head that settles quickly, lacks contour and leaves zero lace. There's a sweetish malt nose and a very pirckly and light mouth. The opening features sweet barley malt, followed by a fairly strong yet smooth, not harsh or metallic, hoppy bite. The aftertaste reminds of corn, which ruins what was otherwise a fairly nice impression. It's drinkable, but not even close to great.
