Dull matte black with a tall, dense nitro-like tan foam dying to a thick, creamy lumpy blanket.
This is surprising bitter for all the shit that's in it. It's roasty and nutty like a classic old school stout, with a round, but thin body and a soft, nitro-like froth that finishes powder dry with a bit of an alcohol burn in the finish that brings a touch of vanilla. Smell seems sweeter than taste, with notes of chocolate, cherry, and marzipan, but I'm not sure where all that disappears to on the flavor front.
The cookie it's served with definitely gets everyone at the bar asking what it is and probably sells way more stout than they otherwise would, but it also detracts from the beer, making it seem even hotter when taking a sip after the first bite.

Having this beer on-tap at the brewery. Served to me in a tulip glass, this beer has a very dark brown, almost black color with a slightly tan/off-white head that's about 1/2 inch thick when first drawn and served. Settles to a medium sized ring lining the inside of the glass with some nice lacing overall. Aromas of some toasted, malts with some caramel sweetness with hints of chocolate and coffee. Also some earthy, slightly piney hops. A very similar flavor profile, with some roasted malts and hints of chocolate and coffee that lens both some additional sweetness and some bitterness. Some, earthy and somewhat piney hops are moderately present as well. Good balance of flavors here. Spot on for the style. Has a slightly crisp, yet smooth, slightly oily and gritty, medium to dull bodied mouthfeel. Easy to drink for a 10.1% ABV beer. A very good beer here indeed!
