A rich and decadent German-style lager brewed extra cold using traditional methods. Toasted malts, toffee, touch of chocolate, and dark fruits. Full-bodied with apparent yet smooth strength. Double decocted and horizontally lagered for clarity of flavor.

Dark red, clear, redder and sparkling under bright light, with a short but somewhat persistent khaki head.

Surprisingly beer smelling beer, dark bread with a caramel tang.

Caramel continues in flavor, more into light brown sugar, as a suggestion of warmth without boozy heat follows. A hint of dark cherry skin before a tingly, clean and semi-dry finish pops in.

12 ounce can, no dating that I noticed on the can or label. Thanks to Brutaltruth for this can! Served in a snifter, the beer pours a mostly clear reddish/amber color with about a half inch or so off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. The brew smells like toasted malt, chocolate, caramel and a bit of dark fruitiness. For the most part the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some bready malt and toffee flavors noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's slick and smooth with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this one, certainly worth a try if you get the chance!

Really attractive dark amber/caramel appearance
Medium light carbonation with an odd body in that it seemed thin but thick, malty at the same time
Aroma is malt, toffee, mildly sweet pastry
Taste is very similar to aroma
Overall a really well done beer

Thin can, poured into the small Ommegang snulip. The foam jumped out of the can a bit. Pour is a deep red brown. Dark and opaque with a strong finger of head that fades out quickly with no lingering remnants. Slim nose of candied fruit - I would say something darker, like raisins or berries. The taste is stronger and lovely. Oh, I forgot to pay attention the first few sips... but there is an initial dose of carbonation, containing the initial dose of bitterness and malt. The dark fruit then joins in while the bitterness persists. There is a sweetness, like caramel or toffee, along to the finish. It even has a little bit of a floral, hoppy touch to it. Nutty, too. Pretty stout in body, solidly carbonated, quite smooth, pleasantly warming, but not overly sweet.

Yowza.

Thin twelve ounce can. Body pours a reddish brown with brief white head. Very light lacing.

Aroma is a lightly sweet dark fruit (fig, raisin) and caramel.

Taste follows nose with amplified flavors especially the caramel sweetness. The high ABV is only modestly felt through a warm glow. No big heat. At finish a light hop flavor softly rises and falls. As the beer warmed, a delightful nutty flavor is expresssed which paired well with the caramel sweetness, negating the sweetness a bit.

Mouthfeel is heavy, almost viscous. Carbonation is light.

From the 12 oz can in a snifter. This excellent eisbock pours a
dark reddish mahogany with a moderate head of khaki foam that settles
to a thick ring, thin clumping layer, and sports some light lacing. Nose of
brown sugars, dark raisin bread, herbal hops, and toffee. Flavors surpass
the nose with brown sugars, toffee, caramel, dark breaded malts, sweet
golden raisins, and nicely balanced floral and herbal hops. Mouth
feel is medium, medium light carbonation, smooth, warming, and
finishing nicely balanced and moderately sweet.

Overall, a stunner. Well presented and nicely balanced!

Cheers
