An unfiltered amber lager inspired by the Zoigl tradition. Zoiglbiers have been brewed for over 500 years in Eastern Bavaria adjacent to the Czech border. Family recipes are brewed in the town’s community brewhouse before being taken back to homes to ferment and lager. When the beer is ready the brewer’s star is hung outside signaling that the Zoigl brewer has converted their kitchen and living room into the town’s pub, or Zoiglstub’n, and all are welcome.
The ancient brewer’s star dates back to around 1430. The points of the two triangles symbolize the elements of fire, earth, and air as well as the essential ingredients of water, hops, and malt.

Having this beer on-tap at the brewery. This beer draws a clear, medium golden color with a bit of an amber hue along with a white head that’s about an inch thick when first drawn and served. Head settles eventually to a thick ring lining the inside of the glass along with a nice film layer of surface foam and very nice lacing on the inside of the glass. Aromas of zesty, bready malts along with ome grassy, slightly earthy hops. A very similar flavor profile, with the aforementioned zesty, slightly toasted, bready malts with some notes of caramel sweetness along with some herbal/grassy and slightly earthy hop bitterness. Good balance of flavors. Has a crisp, smooth, medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a clean finish, and all of the flavors linger nicely on my palate for while after each sip. A good beer here.
