I visited Brew Your Mind while I was spending a little time in Hungary a few weeks ago. Visiting this brewery was, in fact, part of my justification for going to Hungary, so I was definitely predisposed to enjoying my visit; I discovered Brew Your Mind's beer on a trip I took last year and resolved to come drink the beer at the source!
The brewery is in Szekszárd, which is about a two-hour, $6 bus ride from Budapest. Taproom is small, just a couple tables inside, with a not-too-big grassy patio/beer garden area as well: just a couple small covered tables (just enough room to set down your beer), and some chairs out on the grass. But let me tell you: on a sunny afternoon you don't need much more. Inside, the brewery shares the space with the taproom; it is clearly a brewery first, taproom second, and is industrial by nature.
On my visit, they only had 4 beers on tap (two IPAs, a triple IPA, and a fruited sour), but 11 more beers available in cans and a hafl-dozen or so special release barrel-aged stouts in bottles for to-go or on-site consumption. I sat in the sun and enjoyed as much beer as I could before I had to get back to the bus station; of course, the IPAs were the highlights for me. These guys really can do no wrong -- the quality of the beer is outstanding; in my opinion, they're the best brewery in Hungary, and they would put up stiff competition to the very best IPA breweries in the US.
The service was quick and friendly, although I think the bartender was also working in the brewhouse. I mentioned I was an American, but he never tried English with me, so be prepared for Hungarian only (this is pretty true in general once you get outside Budapest). I am absolutely going to return to Brew Your Mind one of these days -- a 16 hour flight and a 2-hour bus ride are nowhere near enough to keep me away!
