DATE: July 20, 2019... OCCASION: hanging by the pool on an insanely hot afternoon at the shore.... GLASSWARE: Otto's pint... this pours from a two-day old can a fresh, frothy, off-white foam that compresses to a quarter-finger's worth of marsh-like haze.... speaking of haze, its body is murky, sallow yellow--the color of looking at the sun through river water... random, sparse white bubbles can be seen on occasion...bright pineapple, papaya, pear, orange peel, grapefruit, and a garden of floral accents make this an appropriate summer accompaniment... light buttered cracker suggests a soft malt presence... its mouthfeel is welcoming, a textured, slightly tart, slightly oily body that operates at a highly drinkable rate... the pile-up of tropical hops grows a garden of fruitiness: grapefruit, papaya, mango, lemon, lime, and orange peel form a veritable cornucopia... the sea salt is faint, but enough of it exists to add to its tartness... this is a near perfect beer companion for the heat and sun today--a refreshing ale that retains a worthwhile complexity...
