DATE: July 18, 2021... OCCASION: home from a great shore weekend, I enjoy Serengeti II with the family and what I hope is a solid offering from Last Wave... from a crowler comes forth an amber orange body sparsely bubbling into a head that froths to a finger's worth of round foam--attractive and welcoming... big chestnut and caramel aromas in this, woody malts, while light citrus (lemon, melon, and grapefruit) build a subtle case for its genre... tea and grains accompany the rather varied aroma... some chew to this, while the introduction is agreeable, soft, and lively... its finish is thicker, grainy, and coating... its flavor is caramel and nut up front, a decisively full-flavored malt offering with minimal hop presence... what does present itself is some floral notes, lemon juice, orange and mango... I like this take on the style, more east coast in its makeup, malty and sweet, full and filling...

On tap in a pint glass at the brewery.
Golden yellow in color with a pure white cap, 1f. Fat rings of lacing line the glass.
Herbal bread and caramel malts. There are light tropical aromas and a decent citrus note that includes orange and lemon.
Taste follows along the lines of the aromas. Malt forward, breaded, orange and grapefruit.
Medium bodied with a sturdy malt base. Hop bitterness in the finish.
Lightly hopped in true pale malt ale fashion. Its 6.1% abv goes down smoothly.
