Pretty sure I picked this up at Bottles by Sickel's down in Red Bank late last year, as I never had this before. I enjoy beers of this style ever since I got hooked on the Troegs Nugget Nectar, although this didn't quite measure up to that. There wasn't anything wrong with this as it checked off all of the proverbial boxes and was easy to drink on a nice spring afternoon!
Amber, bubbly, and topped off with a full head of bread, this had the appearance that I've come to expect from a beer of this style. Lots of bread, caramel, and malt in the nose as this was plenty roasted with hints of chestnut, white chocolate sweetness, and cream cheese with a nice roasted, caramel, and crystalline undertone to it. Balanced, lively, and slightly cloying, this left a nice slickness on the palate. this didn't have any overt bitterness to it although there was some pine and swamp in the back as the soft dankness easily left me wanting more.
No doubt that this was an ideal session beer as I could have easily had another after finishing this off. Dated 11/29 of last year on the label, this held up well since it's canning as it left a nice peat moss aftertaste as this had a soft complexity to it. Clean like the label, this beer was sure to please nearly all and would be worthy to take to the shore on a cool day such as today!
