Tibidabo Brewing “La Sagrada Blatcelona”
33 cl can “BEST BEFORE - BATCH 02/06/23. F0821A06” and sampled on 27 November 2022
2,40€ @ OKasional Beer, Barcelona, ES
Notes via stream of consciousness: This is labeled as a “WEISSBIER” but it’s certainly not a Bavarian-style hefeweizen. I’ve added it as a witbier but I’m not even sure about that as I’m not finding coriander. There is a nice orange flavor to it though so I think that’s what they were going for, and who I knows, maybe there is coriander there and my nose is just off. It’s cloudy with a nice orange color and a good sized head of very creamy foam. The aroma is wheaty, orange-like, yeasty, and delicately phenolic. The flavor follows with a sweetish bready note that’s tempered by a light acidity and some floral and citrusy (orange) flavor. It’s mildly bitter (the label lists 13 IBUs) but it still finishes mainly dry. In the mouth it’s medium to medium-light in body and silky smooth with a very fine-bubbled, seemingly natural carbonation. The creamy head that it started with remains, although deflated, and it’s left some beautiful lacing about the glass. As this is named after the magnificent and stunning cathedral by Gaudi, La Sagrada Familia, I’ll use that as a comparison. This is bright and lively and colorful in many ways but it lacks the weight and intensity that is first and foremost in the awesome architectural gift that is La Sagrada Familia. It’s decent enough, and certainly enjoyable, and I’d have two or three of these in a row if I was in good company and just chillin’ out.
